French Flat Track Championship: results from round 2 in St. Macaire

On Sunday, June 14, the second round of the French Flat Track Championship took place on the oval track of Saint Macaire. A venue with an unusual surface for flat track riders, as it is typically used for grass track racing — a discipline that is quite different, featuring motorcycles more similar to speedway bikes and using tires with a different tread pattern.

Two classes were contested: DTX, featuring 450cc motocross-based bikes, and Tracker, open to vintage motorcycles and framers.

In the DTX class, it was the strong Sébastien Jeanpierre who came out on top, riding a Kawasaki. Jeanpierre finished 13th in the 2024 FIM Flat Track World Championship and is a five-time French champion, holding the title consecutively from 2020 to 2024. Although he chose not to compete in the FIM series this year, he proved once again his effectiveness — even on such an unconventional surface. The podium was completed by Antonin Bergeron and Aubin Gourgues, both aboard Honda CRF 450 Rs.

The Tracker class, which brings the most captivating bikes to the track and best represents the spirit of flat track racing, saw a second consecutive win for Scott Deneux on a Yamaha, ahead of Philippe Bergeron and Barner Roos.

For both winners — Jeanpierre and Deneux — this marks their second victory in two rounds. As a result, they both lead the championship standings with full points and a solid margin over their less consistent rivals.

The next round of the French Flat Track Championship is scheduled for July 19th in La Réole, following the cancellation of the Macon round originally set for June 28th.
