The Czech Flat Track Championship made a stop in Slaný, on the speedway oval just outside Prague. Two days of racing, counting as the seventh and eighth rounds of the season, with three categories on Saturday and two on Sunday, offered the crowd a concentrated dose of close battles and spectacular overtakes.
Saturday saw the spotlight on the FT1 category, where Ondřej Svědík set the pace, taking victory ahead of Vít Janoušek and Adam Nejezchleba. Behind them, Ukrainian Stanislav Ogorodnik and Polish Lukasz Bujniewicz fought for the top five. Ervín Krajčovič was out of the running due to a mechanical issue with his KTM. In FT Classics, the Frenchman William Bonici on his Harley-Davidson came out on top, keeping the Germans Elias Altman and Friedrich Altus at bay. The FT Young 125cc category also saw impressive performances from the home talent Matěj Gebert, who claimed victory ahead of Tomáš Svoboda and Jozef Matyáš Misbach, confirming the strength of the Czech youth scene.
Sunday restarted from zero with the eighth round. In FT1, the big winner was Ervín Krajčovič, returning on a borrowed bike, who after a quiet Saturday took the top step of the podium ahead of Vít Janoušek and Ondřej Svědík. Behind them, Adam Nejezchleba and German Christian Stange completed the top five. In FT Young, Matěj Gebert repeated his success, dominating the weekend once again: Jozef Matyáš Misbach finished second and Jakub Hejkal third, with the young riders delivering thrilling racing until the last lap.
Slaný thus experienced an intense weekend, with riders of multiple nationalities and categories confirming the growth of flat track in the Czech Republic. And there’s no need to wait long to see the riders back in action: the next round of the Czech Flat Track Championship is already scheduled for this weekend in Svitavy, once again on a speedway oval.
