Rocco’s Ranch Super GP 2025: home hero Ferran Cardús dominates

During the MotoGP weekend in Barcelona, the traditional dirt track event, the International Super GP, unfolded at Rocco’s Ranch — the off-road facility located right next to the Montmeló circuit. The venue boasts motocross and indoor enduro tracks, and, most importantly, a flat track oval with an infield TT course.

The Super GP takes inspiration from the Dirt Track USA, organized in Montmeló by Kenny Roberts back in the 1990s. Back then, some of the world’s best riders from both road racing and off-road disciplines went head-to-head on a flat track oval at what was known as the Kenny Roberts Training Ranch. Today, Rocco’s Ranch is run by the Cardús brothers: Ricky, a former Moto2 rider, and Ferran, a versatile competitor with experience in supermoto, dirt track, and motocross.

As the host, Ferran Cardús proved untouchable, dominating both nights of racing — first on the oval, then on the TT layout. With no real challengers, he cruised to commanding victories, leaving the rest of the field, despite its quality, to battle for the remaining podium places.

Among those trying to keep pace was Gerard Bailo, the 2022 Flat Track World Champion, riding a Zaeta. Bailo secured a strong second place on Friday’s oval, but his Saturday ended prematurely due to unspecified technical issues that kept him out of the TT final. Another contender, Ferran Sastre, saw his podium hopes disappear after a crash on the opening lap of Friday’s flat track final. He bounced back with a third place in the TT, but ultimately finished only seventh overall.

Capitalizing on the setbacks of others were Juan Viganoni, who took fourth and second, and Eric Reverté, with third and sixth, finishing second and third overall respectively. Ignacio Galan’s steady performances (fifth and fourth) earned him fourth place overall, while Bailo rounded out the Top 5.

Spain’s strong lineup was joined by a group of Italians who stood out thanks to their vintage flat track bikes: Sami Panseri, Carlo Pettinato, and Piercarlo Schiavon, all on Rotax-powered bikes, and Simone Zani on a Honda Dominator. In Friday’s oval race, Panseri was the best of the group in eighth, followed by Pettinato in ninth. Pettinato, however, was the only one to return for Saturday’s TT, this time aboard a Honda CRF 450 instead of the Rotax. His consistent effort paid off, as he gathered enough points to break into the overall Top 10.
