Ervín Krajčovič is the 2025 FIM Flat Track World Champion

In Pardubice, Czech Republic, last Saturday hosted the grand finale of the 2025 FIM Flat Track World Championship. It had been an uncertain season right up to the last Final, with the defending Champion, Sammy Halbert, starting badly, while challenger and 2023 Champion, Ervín Krajčovič, began strongly. With a stunning win a week earlier in Vasad, Hungary, Halbert had turned the tables, snatching the lead in the standings with a slim 4-point advantage—but still an advantage. For the fast Krajčovič, it seemed unlikely to swing the 2025 FIM Flat Track Championship back in his favor, but that’s the beauty of racing: it’s not over until it’s over.

Krajčovič essentially needed not only to win but also to put someone between himself and the American. Unlikely, as already said, but not impossible. It would have taken a mistake from Halbert, perhaps—and that’s exactly what happened in Pardubice.

Not a crash or a badly taken corner, but a misjudgment that led him to take down Ondřej Svědík after just a couple of turns in the Final. It wasn’t a dirty move, but it was enough for the referee to send him to restart from the back of the grid.

Sammy gave it his all with one of his trademark comebacks, but this time it wasn’t enough. The OMT Squadra Corse rider recovered to fifth place, while the local duo Krajčovič-Svědík, with Svědík unhurt after the contact, dominated with a safe margin over an excellent Kevin Corradetti (Yamaha-Di Traverso), who scored his second podium of the season after Scheeßel a month ago. For the Italian, third place in Pardubice also meant overtaking his compatriot Tonelli in the standings to clinch fourth overall. Ahead of Halbert was also the Briton Tim Neave, blisteringly fast and solid, though only in the second half of the season.
