Dust & Fun Flat Track Trophy: all the results from Terenzano

The fourth round of the Dust & Fun Flat Track Trophy took place on the Terenzano oval, in the province of Udine, on a mild Sunday, September 28. About fifteen riders lined up, divided into the Modern class (for 450cc), Rookies, Thunderbike, and Street Legal – the one-make category reserved for properly prepped Royal Enfield Himalayan and Scram.

Being the fourth out of five rounds on the calendar, Terenzano crowned the first Champions of the 2025 Dust & Fun Trophy. One of them is Vicenza’s Davide Maran who, riding a Honda CRF 450 R, extended the winning streak he had started in Lonigo back in April and secured the Modern class title with one race to spare. Not even a nasty crash in the first heat, on a damp track, could stop him: after a few worrying moments, Maran climbed back on the bike and picked up where he had left off. Joining him on the podium were Gian Maria Gabbiani, second, and Alessandro Giuzio, third, both also on Honda.

In the Rookies class, reserved for flat track newcomers, Alessandro Mantia once again took the win, also securing the title with a race to go thanks to three victories out of four. Behind him came Simone Zanchetta, on the unusual BMW G450X adapted for the oval, and Swiss rider of Italian descent Fabrice Cerini on a Rotax 600. No surprises in Street Legal either, with Carlo Pettinato taking a clear win ahead of Nicola Palomba.

The real show, as has been the case all year, belonged to the Thunderbike class, dedicated to single-cylinder flat track bikes with air-cooled engines up to 700cc. Once again, it turned into a fierce duel between Sami Panseri and Carlo Pettinato, both on Rotax framers. Pettinato took the first heat, Panseri the second, while the third was marred by a heavy crash at the start involving Pettinato, Isella, and Buzzi; the latter came off worst, and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.

The opening laps of the Final were just as hard-fought, with Pettinato getting a strong start and leading the first couple of laps, but unable to hold off Panseri’s speed and determination. Panseri crossed the line first, with Simone Zani taking third. The Thunderbike title is still up for grabs, but with a six-point lead now in Panseri’s favor, it looks like a tough gap to close.

The next and final round of the Dust & Fun Flat Track Trophy is already set for this coming weekend: Sunday, October 5, on the Ravenna oval.
