The curtain came down on Saturday at Leicester Speedway on the 2025 ACU British Flat Track Championship, with a day full of spectacle and close battles across all categories. The fifth and final round crowned the first national champions – this being the inaugural year in which the ACU staged a fully recognised national flat track series – after a hard-fought season marked by tight racing and a continuously rising technical level.
Tim Neave takes the Pro Class crown
In the Pro Class, contested on 450cc motocross-based machines, the final lived up to its billing as a proper season showdown: all the title contenders lined up on the front two rows, ready to go all-in. At the start it was Tom Woolley who grabbed the holeshot, setting the early pace and showing he had lost none of his edge since returning to flat track after his speedway stint. But the battle soon flared: Tim Neave quickly moved into the lead, while Gary Birtwistle charged through to second and Jack Bell stayed in the mix at the sharp end, eventually finishing third. Neave pulled a small but decisive gap and secured both the race victory and the British title. Behind him came Birtwistle, Bell and young Thomas Hunt, who climbed to fourth.
Skye Adams dominates the Ladies Class
The female contenders delivered fireworks too. Leicester hosted the final round of the Ladies British Championship, confirming Skye Adams’ dominance: victory on the day and the title thanks to an impeccable campaign. Jamie Kimber finished second – also making the Pro Final – and claimed third overall in the standings. Completing the podium at Leicester was Chloe Johnson, a result that also secured her runner-up spot in the championship.
Rising stars: Hewson and Asher crowned champions
There was no shortage of excitement among the young talents either. In the Junior Class, Leon Hewson swept every round of the season to take the crown in his debut year of flat track. His brother Freddy finished second at Leicester and third in the championship, behind Reuben Hall, who with third place on the day moved up to second overall. In the Youth Inter Class, Leon Bennett scored his fourth straight win ahead of newcomers Joey Birchall and Edward Henfrey. The title, however, went to the consistency of Cody Asher and Thomas Glossop, first and second overall, with Bennett in third.

Greig rules Mini-Stock, Pitbike and Motocross
The Mini-Stock Class title came down to a head-to-head among the three contenders – Tim Greig, Pete Kimber and Layla Simpson – all starting side by side on the front row. Greig nailed the holeshot and controlled the race from start to finish, sealing the title ahead of Kimber and Simpson. Greig then underlined his dominance by remaining unbeaten in the Motocross Class, and by winning the Pitbike Class after an exciting duel with Simpson. That made it a triple crown of British titles for him in 2025.
Vintage and Twins: thrills and drama
The Vintage Class once again provided plenty of spectacle – and some drama too – as the final was red-flagged due to a crash involving the leaders. Victory was awarded to Aaron Tuttlebee, while the title went to Torbjorn Eyre, ahead of Jim Howard and Caroline Grace, who edged out Chris Manning in a tie-break for third overall.
The Twins Class was decided by fractions of a second: Jack Bell beat Gary Birtwistle by just 0.38s to take both the race win and the title. Skye Adams finished third, which also secured her second place overall, just behind teammate Bell. The result gave the Devitt Vanoni Racing Team a one-two finish in the standings.
A championship on the rise
2025 marked the first ever multi-round edition of the ACU British Flat Track Championship, and the verdict from organisers is highly positive. “Entries grew round after round, with riders travelling from across England, Wales and Scotland. Speedway tracks have proven the perfect stage for spectacular racing, and the series has laid strong foundations for an even more competitive and exciting 2026 season.”
