On Saturday, July 5th, the fifth round of the 2025 DTRA Flat Track Nationals took place on the short oval of Mallory Park, located within the well-known motorsport complex just a few kilometers from Birmingham. This round followed the races at Greenfield in May and came ahead of the upcoming double-header at Amman Valley scheduled for late August.
The Mallory Park flat track circuit, recently built by the DTRA championship organizers, is the shortest on the calendar at just 270 meters, and also one of the most challenging. Its surface changes dramatically depending on the weather conditions in the days leading up to the event.
Five classes lined up for this fifth round: Mini Mod, Mini Stock, Rookies, Intermediate, and Pro. In the Minibike Modified class, after seven laps, Chris Bailey secured victory with a comfortable margin over Simon Bird, while Jeremy Skipp finished third, slightly further back. There were 14 riders at the start. In Minibike Stock, which saw eight participants, Wilbur Skipp claimed the win ahead of Layla Simpson and Peter Kimber.
The Rookie class, dedicated to flat track newcomers, featured 13 riders. In the final, after qualifying with 3-1-4 finishes, Chris Bailey took the win with a lead of nearly 2 seconds over Ben Bell and more than 6 seconds ahead of third-place Hayden Blackburn. In the Intermediate category, Max Inman won on a Honda CRF 450 R, followed by Joao Da Costa and Danny Williams, both also on Hondas. Notably, Jamie Kimber finished fourth, just off the podium by tenths of a second, and was the top female rider in the race.

As always, the Pro class showcased the highest level of competition, featuring riders who also compete in the FIM Flat Track World Championship. At Mallory Park, the Pro class told a great story, with the Neave twins dominating. Tim (Yamaha) took the win, narrowly beating Tom (Fantic) by just 0.14 seconds at the finish line. Young Thomas Hunt (Yamaha) completed the podium. Jack Bell and Gary Birtwistle followed in fourth and fifth, respectively.
Saturday was a smooth and injury-free day, leaving the organizers satisfied. Unfortunately, Sunday’s program was canceled due to rain. The next round of the 2025 DTRA Flat Track Nationals is set for August 30–31 at the Amman Valley racecourse.
