Dutch Flat Track 2025: results from Round 3 in Roden

On the weekend of June 28/29, the third round of the Dutch Flat Track Championship took place on the 600-meter oval of the Speed Centre in Roden. Two days of favorable weather and a track in great condition contributed to exciting on-track action, with close battles across almost all classes and plenty of fun for the riders.

Among the competitors were some top-level European riders, especially in the Inter/Pro class, which featured Menno Van Meer and Frenchman William Bonnici, both active in the FIM Flat Track World Championship, along with Bart Verstijnen, who managed to challenge the modern 450s aboard his vintage Honda RS600D. The three of them made up the podium: Van Meer took the win, followed by Verstijnen and Bonnici.

The Newbie class – reserved for absolute beginners – stood out not only for its purpose but for the impressive number of entrants: 17 in total, a sign that flat track in the Netherlands is alive and growing. Eddie Van der Veen took the win ahead of Evert Mensinga and Marc Offenberg. Stepping up to the Rookie class, which also saw 12 riders, Chris van Bergen claimed victory over Sönke Rehs and Gosse Bergman.

In the Thunderbike category, Gerben Swaagman took the win, with French rider Stephane Pion second and Rogier Klippel third. The Hooligan class, dedicated to twin-cylinder bikes, was dominated by Maikel Dijkstra on his Royal Enfield, finishing over six seconds ahead of Rick Siebren Douma and ten ahead of Martin Cazemier.

Six riders took part in the Royal Enfield Slide School Cup, the one-make class featuring Royal Enfield bikes equipped with the official flat track kit. Jeroen Bouwmeester won in a photo finish over Joscha Bazynski, with Marthijn Kip taking third slightly behind. In the Ladies Cup, Raphaela Adamczak triumphed over Maëlane Pion and Yfke Wobbes.

The Classic 50/Youth and Minibike/Sunday Cup classes completed the race program at Roden. Podium finishers were: Tyson Prijs, Theun Veldhuizen, and Stijn Verdonck in Classic 50/Youth; and Buddy Prijs, Martin Cazemier, and Gerben Swaagman in the Minibike/Sunday Cup.

The next and final round of the 2025 Dutch Flat Track Championship is scheduled for September 6/7 in Blijham, where the national flat track champions of the Netherlands will be crowned.
