FIM Flat Track, Hungary: Halbert wins and leads the standings. Full results

The fifth round of the 2025 FIM Flat Track World Championship took place on the small 300m oval in Vasad, Hungary, just outside Budapest. As the penultimate round of the year—and precisely because of that—it turned into a pivotal race, with a major shake-up in the points standings. After chasing all season long, Sammy Halbert finally overtook Ervín Krajčovič, setting up a thrilling final showdown in Pardubice next weekend, on Krajčovič’s home turf, with only four points between them.

In Vasad, Halbert, riding the OMT Squadra Corse Husqvarna, was nearly unstoppable: three wins and one second place in the heats, the best overall score, and a Final he led from start to finish, clocking the fastest lap as well—worth an extra bonus point. He wasn’t untouchable, though, with Britain’s Tim Neave on the VFR GASGAS keeping him under pressure for all 12 laps of the Final, though never close enough to attempt a real move. For Halbert it was a second straight victory; for Neave, a second consecutive podium—frustratingly late form, as this speed and consistency only arrived from Round 4 onward.

It was a less memorable outing for the Czech duo of Krajčovič–Svědík, both slower than Halbert and Neave. Krajčovič salvaged third place, though far from the leaders’ pace, but his points advantage is now gone, and the four to recover to be crowned World Champion for the second time seem a mountain to climb with Halbert in this form. Luckily for him, the showdown will be in his native Czechia, with the always passionate Pardubice crowd behind him. Ondřej Svědík was less incisive than usual, finishing fourth; theoretically still in title contention, but 13 points behind Halbert, his chances are slim.

Behind Svědík came the day’s real surprise: Germany’s Marius Kircher, consistently quick all weekend. Third-fastest in free practice, two heat wins, tied for third-best score with Svědík, and fifth in the Final. A strong apprenticeship year—he could be one to watch in 2026.

Now, with less than seven days of rest, the FIM Flat Track World Championship heads to Pardubice, Czechia, for the sixth and final round, held in the stadium during the prestigious Golden Helmet speedway weekend. The race will, as always, be streamed live and free on the official federation platform, fim-moto.tv.
