Flat Track Italian Championship in Ravenna: Daniele Tonelli strikes again

On a scorching late-June Sunday, the second round of the 2025 Italian Flat Track Championship took place on the Ravenna oval, two months after the season opener on the red dirt of Lonigo (VI). The entry list was noticeably slimmer than in Round 1—14 riders compared to 20—due both to the absence of some international riders who, back in April, were preparing for the FIM Flat Track World Championship, and to the extreme heat, which understandably brought some non-professional riders and non-title contenders to more sensible decisions.

Daniele Tonelli lined up as the clear favorite, riding his TM machine. He came into the round off a win in Lonigo and two strong results in the first two rounds of the FIM Flat Track series: a narrow 2nd in Terenzano, Italy, and a 5th in Meissen, Germany. The Tuscan didn’t disappoint: with a masterful race performance, he bagged another 25 points.
That said, it wasn’t a walk in the park—especially not in the final. After a close encounter with another rider, Tonelli went down, but at the restart pulled off an authoritative comeback, overtaking Marzotto first and then leader Bossetti, before charging solo toward the checkered flag, without facing any real pressure.

Giacomo Bossetti, riding a GASGAS for team VFR, led the final for several laps after a perfect start from the second row. Coming in from the Last Chance, he cleverly used an outside line to sweep past the pack battling on the inside. After Tonelli’s overtake, the Bergamo native held firm in second place—his best-ever result in the Italian Flat Track Championship.

Vittorio Emanuele Marzotto gave it a go for a few laps, riding a borrowed GASGAS he picked up the day before the race. But he had to surrender first to Tonelli’s charge, and then dropped back further after losing his steel shoe. Despite topping the qualifying heats, he ended up fifth, behind Kevin Corradetti (Yamaha – Di Traverso) and Argentine rider Santiago Arangio (Yamaha – Di Traverso), who does not count toward the Italian points standings. Just behind were Daniele Tuzi and the local favorites: Michele Guerra and his 15-year-old stepson Christian Poli.
