The Sunday following the FIM Flat Track World Championship round in Meissen, Germany, part of the world championship circus will cross the border into nearby Gorzów Wielkopolski – less than four hours away by road. In the stunning GBS Edward Jancarz Stadium, well-known in the speedway world for hosting GPs since 2011, a selection of FIM Flat Track riders will go head-to-head with top local talent in the Gorzów Flat Track Challenge 2025 – an international friendly promoted by local club Stal Gorzów.
Proud to welcome the stars of the World Championship are Patryk Broszko, Vice President of the Club, and event organizer Wojciech Jankowski. “We invite all motorsport fans, adrenaline junkies and those looking for something different: see you at the stadium at 3:00 PM on June 15 – admission is free. Gorzów will once again prove its ability to host world-class events,” Broszko says. Jankowski echoes the enthusiasm, extending the invitation even to those new to flat track: “The entrance is free because we want this to be a true motorcycle festival for the whole family.”
If speedway is practically a religion in Poland, flat track – with its American roots – is still finding its footing. But the potential is huge. Among the elite riders taking part: reigning World Champion and 2009 AMA Grand National winner Sammy Halbert, former World Champ Ervin Krajčovič, Czech standout Ondrej Svedik, Tim Neave and top Italians Daniele Tonelli, Giacomo Bossetti, Michele Guerra, Stefano Casiraghi, and Daniele Tuzi.
The race format follows a tried-and-true structure: 22 riders, 2 free practice sessions, 12 heats of 8 laps each with 7 or 8 riders, a 5-lap Last Chance with 10 riders, and a 12-lap Grand Final featuring the top 12.
Thanks to strong organization and promotion, the Gorzów Flat Track Challenge has become especially attractive for riders. The total prize purse exceeds €3,000, with €750 for the winner, €450 for second place, €300 for third, and payouts all the way down to the last finisher. On top of that, entry to the race is completely free for all competitors.
